SLASH Talks To CNN; Video Available
May 30, 2010Guitarist Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES) recently talked to CNN's Shanon Cook about going solo for his new record, family and his guitar obsession. Watch the chat below.
Slash plans to incorporate songs from his entire career into his upcoming solo tour, including material from GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER, SLASH'S SNAKEPIT and his new solo album. The guitarist told The Pulse of Radio he can do that thanks to the man who's handling lead vocals on the trek, ALTER BRIDGE's Myles Kennedy. "The tour's gonna be comprised of some GUNS stuff and some VELVET stuff and some SNAKEPIT, and then also songs off the record. He's such an amazing vocalist, so he can cover all that, he can handle all that 'cause he's got a great range. So I'm really excited, 'cause before I talked to him, I was sort of auditioning singers for this tour and I figured I'd get it together, but he's just, he's so perfect."
Slash played the Rock On The Range festival in Columbus, Ohio last weekend and has scattered dates coming up, but has yet to announce a full tour.
Slash's all-star collaborations album, simply titled "Slash", scored the highest new entry on The Billboard 200 chart early last month, with first-week U.S. sales of around 60,000 copies.
"Slash" was released in North America on April 6 via EMI Label Services. The album features an all-star roster of guest musicians, including Ian Astbury, Chris Cornell, Rocco DeLuca, Fergie, Dave Grohl, Myles Kennedy, Kid Rock, Lemmy Kilmister, Adam Levine, Duff McKagan, M. Shadows of AVENGED SEVENFOLD, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, and Andrew Stockdale of WOLFMOTHER.
"Slash" was produced by Eric Valentine (QUEENS OF STONE AGE, THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS) and was completed with the rhythm section of bassist Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION) and drummer Josh Freese (NINE INCH NAILS). Slash handled the majority of arranging and songwriting duties and hand-picked each guest artist. The album's guests worked collaboratively with Slash to round out the song.
